Telematics expansion in Russia and the Ukraine

Although Navigator Technology (stand G47) is attending the World Congress to exhibit its telematics-based vehicle management systems, the Russian company views the event as a major opportunity to find partners and merge with pan-European GPS telematics projects, as well as extend European ITS activity into Russia and the Ukraine.

Navigator Technology has established the United Dispatch System (UDS), a wide network of regional dispatch centres to provide location-based and fleet management services throughout Russia.

UDS was influenced by, and emulated, the technical specifications and user benefits that ERTICO and the EC pursued when the pan-European E-Merge and GST (Global standard for Telematics) projects were launched. As a result, UDS can provide a range of telematics services through the vast geographic area of Russia, including a full range of vehicle recovery services in the event of breakdown

or vehicle theft and emergency; response to road accidents which are automatically notified by sensors/airbag/emergency signal transmission where dispatchers will instantly coordinate and direct emergency services to the scene.

With full geographic coverage of Russia through it's network of dispatch centres, UDS has more recently entered a partner agreement with the biggest Ukrainian GPS tracking service operator, who also employs Navigator Technology's tracking units and control centre programme. As a result, UDS has expanded the basis of "Roaming in Telematics" into the most Eastern territories of Europe and is using the World Congress to look for partners who would benefit from leveraging this capability.
